W Architecture has been hired by the North Flatbush Business Improvement District to design improvements for the strip of Flatbush Avenue between Grand Army Plaza and Atlantic Avenue (image from the BID website). Here is how the BID describes the project in a recent update:
“The North Flatbush Avenue BID is developing a streetscape design plan that pays homage to the historic area while integrating new design elements that will create a visual transition to the “Downtown”. The primary area is Flatbush Avenuefrom Plaza Street o Atlantic Avenue with special attention given to the Triangle Parks at Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Carlton Avenues. Through grants from Avenue NYC Program, the North Flatbush Avenue BID has hired WArchitecture and Landscape Architecture, LLC firm to help create and design a plan that will meet the future needs of the District.”
The Brooklyn Paper also recently discussed the plan in an article entitled “Is the fix in for Flatbush?”
