On May 24 and 25, 2013 scientists from the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University as well as experts from the Calgary Field Naturalists' Society attended a 24 hour research program to itemize the living species on St Patrick's Island – a “BioBlitz”. The object of this living “treasure hunt” is to find and identify plants, mammals, birds, insects, and everything else that calls the island home to create a biodiversity baseline for the island.
