The Calgary Municipal Land Corporation has partnered with PARK to launch an intereactive and temporary art installation that offers Calgarians a safe and creative way to experience Confluence Plaza in St. Patrick’s Island park amidst COVID-19. #VIBRANCEYYC offers Calgarians a new way to stay connected and active while still following physical distancing guidelines. PARK is a volunteer-run network in Western Canada organized by groups of young professionals, and promotes and supports local entrepreneurs, artisans, and designers. W worked with Civitas to design the park, which opened in 2015.
Launched Monday, July 20th, the installation includes a ground mural that incorporates physical distancing circles. Local artist Leechuts designed the artwork, Colour Topography, to enable a 2 meter distance between the participants of fitness and dance lessons. Michelle Hoogveld created an overhead spectrum of swaying color called Resonance of Colour.
