The governor, the mayor and the many community members from WEACT and Community Board 9 that we had worked with for so long were all present at the official West Harlem Piers Park Ribbon-Cutting on Saturday, May 30.

Celebrating the completion of this waterfront on the Hudson with the first new piers in New York City for over 40 years is a milestone for us. Not only are they the first new piers, but they are designed in a very different fashion, bringing the forces of nature to the city, rather than extending the city into the water. Adding the piers and narrowing the adjacent road created an additional 36,000 sf of site for this narrow park, allowing it to become the gathering place that it now is, as well as the last link in the multi-use greenway running north and south along the Hudson.
