The opening of Tampa's Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park was announced by World Landscape Architecture. W and Civitas collaborated on the project and undertook intensive public outreach and stakeholder input process starting in 2014. W designed the public boathouse for human-powered crafts including racing shells, kayaks, and dragon boats. The desire for a boathouse came out of the community engagement process, and it quickly became an integral part of the park's design and purpose. The boathouse is a new landmark for the river and provides panoramic river views. The roof captures stormwater management by channeling runoff into rain gardens, filtering it before its return to the river. Read the whole article here.
