‘Queer Urbanism & Design’ To Be Presented at Hindsight Conference

An interdisciplinary team from the fields of landscape design, planning, and art examines LGBTQ cultural ecologies in New York City to develop Queer Urbanism Design Guidelines. This presentation uses historical case studies to examine the intersections of urban economics, queer theory, and design criticism. The presentation was shown at the national ASLA conference and will be shown at the Hindsight conference in NYC this Friday, December 6 at City Tech in Brooklyn. Samantha Sikanas, landscape designer at W, will present along with Emilio Martinez Poppe and Addison Vawters. The Hindsight conference believes in more just and equitable communities that enable opportunity, quality of life, and a sense of belonging for all; and a more diverse planning profession working together to make that vision a reality.
