90 Sands Housing Approved by Community Board

The Brooklyn Daily Eagle broke the news that a former DUMBO hotel will be turned into housing for formerly homeless New Yorkers. The community board voted last Wednesday night to approve Breaking Ground’s plan to convert the 29-story tower at 90 Sands Street into 305 apartments for formerly homeless individuals and 202 permanently affordable apartments for tenants with a mix of income levels. W is working with the nonprofit Breaking Ground to redesign the privately owned public plaza, which is currently obstructed by large walls, fences, gates, and planters. Our proposal will create a more welcoming experience along Jay St, Sands St, and High St, encouraging interaction with the plaza and its amenities. ┬áTenants of the building and visitors will be able to enjoy the added seating and green space.
