Last week, at the National ASLA Conference in San Diego, Samantha Sikanas, landscape designer at W, along with two of her colleagues, Emilio Martinez Poppe (MFA UPenn ‘21) and Addison Vawters (planner at NYC HPD), presented their lecture titled “Queer Urbanism and Design: Past, Present, Future.”
The presentation included critical analysis of two NYC Queer Spaces, including the Hudson River Piers and Jacob Riis Park, and attempted to define Queer Urbanism Design Guidelines based on research from the past year.
Samantha and her team will also present at the APA Hindsight Conference, here in Brooklyn, on Friday, December 6. Visit Hindsightcon.com for more info and to register.
Congratulations to the team!
