Shoelace Park Greenway Construction Continues

The Shoelace Park Greenway has restarted construction after pausing – we are excited to share this progress photo of the busy site last week.

W worked with NYC Parks, the Bronx River Alliance, and the community around Shoelace Park in the Bronx to design a greenway just over a mile long with a reconstructed path, drainage system, new entrances, bioswales and rain gardens. The greenway will connect a missing link in the Bronx River Greenway, which is a 25-mile long ribbon of green with a multi-use path that will extend along the full length of the river in the Bronx and Westchester County. The greenway is meant to provide new and improved public space in neighborhoods severely lacking it, to reclaim the riverfront, and improve the quality of life for Bronx residents. The greenway is unique in being the only trail along a freshwater river in NYC. The greenway link through Shoelace Park is scheduled to be complete in spring of 2021.
