Three out of four phases of improvements in Shoelace Park are complete and now open to the public! W worked with NYC Parks, the Bronx River Alliance, NYS DOT, and the community to design an improved greenway for the 1.2 mile-long park. The new design includes reconstructed pedestrian and bike paths, new drainage systems, new entrance plazas, rain gardens, more permeability, newly planted trees, and less pavement. The Shoelace Park greenway will also now be a part of the Bronx River Greenway, a continuous 25-mile long multi-use path.
You can read more about the project and the community involvement process here and here. Construction should be complete next spring.
Check out this photo of the park in fall, we love watching the seasons change at our projects!
