The two firms are building on their shared values and interdisciplinary approaches to extend their collective work from coast to coast. With complementary expertise and skillsets, W + MIG offers architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, planning, communications, graphic design, and community engagement with an emphasis on linking and enhancing people and place. Together, they will continue to push the boundaries of innovative, community-based solutions that integrate the social, environmental, and economic future of the places in which we live, work and play.
Amy Mitchell, PLA has joined Founding Principal Barbara Wilks as a partner at New York-based W Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Amy is an award-winning, visionary landscape architect with more than 20 years of experience in designing public spaces, with a specific emphasis in the creation of specialized children’s environments and inclusive places for all. She leverages her background in human development and community engagement to design places in collaboration with the people who use and interact with the space. In doing so, she strives to understand and reflect community spirit and character in every project. Amy is pleased to join Barbara – as well as Associates Julia Howe and Chieh Huang – to lead W Architecture and Landscape Architecture into the future as they continue to embed cities in nature and promote meaningful interactions between people and their environments.
Jay Renkens, Principal, AICP has opened MIG, Inc.’s first office on the East Coast. MIG’s New York City office focuses on planning and community development at a variety of scales, ranging from citywide visioning and comprehensive plans to downtown plans, neighborhood plans and site master plans. MIG is building upon its 40-year track record of participatory planning to develop implementable plans that promote economic vibrancy, community health, inclusivity, equity, and resiliency in communities along the East Coast and throughout the country. As MIG’s Firmwide Director of Planning and Design Services, Jay has more than 20 years of experience as an expert urban planner, designer and facilitator who leads projects from vision to implementation by facilitating authentic collaboration, consensus and engagement with public and private sector clients, stakeholders and communities.
